Kotor is a hidden gem nestled at the head of a dramatic fjord-like bay on Montenegro's Adriatic coast. Its medieval walled Old Town, surrounded by imposing mountains, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that feels like stepping back in time.
What to Do in a Day in Kotor
Walk directly from the dock into the Old Town through the Sea Gate. Climb the 1,350 steps to the San Giovanni Fortress for an unforgettable panoramic view of the Bay of Kotor. Back down, explore the charming squares, the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon and the Maritime Museum. Sample local wines and seafood in a harbourside restaurant. For a half-day trip, take a taxi or bus to the picturesque villages of Perast and the Our Lady of the Rocks island church.
